Sustainable Cosmetic Issues Detailed at California Suppliers’ Day

The California Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists’ biannual Suppliers’ Day will be held October 13 and 14.

The California Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists will hold its biannual Suppliers’ Day October 13 and 14 at the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, CA.

SCC National President—and California Chapter member—Liz Streland said, “I am excited to attend California Supplier’s Day and look forward to greeting many friends and colleagues in-person.  Now in its 38th year and drawing more than 3,000 attendees, it continues to grow as the West Coast’s premier industry event for business development and product & service showcasing.”

Attendees must adhere to the folllowing:

  • Masks Required
  • Vaccination Proof required or negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of event.
  • Must show valid ID with your badge to enter the exhibit hall.

The event gets underway with a Continuing Education Program on Tuesday, October 12 from 9am to 5pm. Instructor Wen Schroeder will teach, “Sustainable Cosmetic Product Development—Using Green Principles.” Schroeder is the founder and president of SEKI Cosmeticals, Westminster, CO.  Schroeder is scientific advisor to Taiwan External Trade Development Council and had served on the Personal Care Products Council.
Schroeder’s program will provide details on the following:

The “Greening” of Global Cosmetic/Personal Care Market: Topics include evolution of the sustainable concept in consumer products, the meaning of green, historical origin and social-economic trending, global market and consumer behavior.

Green Cosmetic/Personal Care Product Regulation: Topics include the organic concept: from the agricultural practices to cosmetic product standards; natural cosmetic products:  what does it mean in terms of regulatory control; and other relevant green legislation concerning cosmetics/personal care products.

Green Cosmetic/Personal Care Product Regulation Workshop: Topics include green claims & development, claims analysis, claims substantiation, case studies.

Sustainable Product Development: Topics include formulating with “green” ingredients, sustainable formulation highlight, sustainable packaging highlight.

Sustainable Sourcing & Manufacturing Practices: Topics include global challenges and opportunities in responsible sourcing and sustainable manufacturing trends.

A Really Big Show

Suppliers’ Day exhibition show hours are Wednesday, October 13, 10am to 5pm and Thursday, October 14, 10am to 3pm. More than 200 exhibitors are scheduled to showcase an array of products and services.
Suppliers are looking forward to the event after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

“The California SCC Supplier’s Day Show is one of the best venues for those of us in personal care raw materials industry,” said Jay Lang, EVP-strategic business development, sales, LBB Specialties. “It is a great chance to meet both customers and suppliers under one roof while showcasing the latest innovations and technologies to potential users.  It is a very well-organized event and I always look forward to exhibiting in Long Beach. I just wish I didn’t have to wait a year in between shows!”

“I anticipate Suppliers Day to be as it has always been, a very successful meeting to network, and meet new and old clients,” added Craig Weiss, president, Consumer Product Testing Company.

A Suppliers’ Day After-Party will take place at the Terrace Theater near the convention center on Wednesday from 7pm to 12am. A limited number of tickets will be sold at $60 each.
